The Uzbek Language — the Spirit of the Nation and the Foundation of Spirituality
On October 21, a cultural and educational event dedicated to the “Uzbek Language Day” was held at the Palace of Culture of Gulistan State University. The event took place in an atmosphere filled with high spirits and national pride.
The event was opened by the Advisor to the Governor of Syrdarya Region on State Language Affairs, Ghaybulla Yusupov, who spoke about the role of the native language in public administration, education, and social life, as well as the ongoing reforms aimed at promoting language culture.
After the performance of the National Anthem, the celebration officially began. Rector of Gulistan State University, M. Khodjiyev, delivered a speech, sincerely congratulating attendees on the 36th anniversary of the Uzbek language being granted state language status. In his address, the rector emphasized that language is the soul of a nation — a guarantee of its eternity and unity. He also highlighted the university’s efforts to promote in-depth study of the mother tongue and to foster love and respect for it among the youth.
In the artistic part of the event, a stage composition directed by Honored Artist of Uzbekistan Asatilla Kholiqov was presented. The performance included poetic and musical tributes to the works of national poets Erkin Vohidov, Halima Khudoyberdiyeva, To‘ra Sulaymon, and Muhammad Yusuf, filling the hearts of the audience with profound emotion.
The participants once again felt the spirit of love for their mother tongue, national pride, and spiritual elevation. For the Gulistan State University community, this celebration became not only an expression of respect for the native language but also an opportunity to better appreciate its unique richness and sacred value.
