HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT

The department of foreign languages was founded in 1967 under the Syrdarya State Pedagogical Institute. At that time the department was headed by Galin Igor Anatolyevich, and Sultanov Erkin was the dean of the faculty. In 1968 the department was divided into two foreign languages departments.

From 1975 to 1986, the department was headed by Egamova Yanglish Egamovna. In 1980, two departments were merged and Tojiev Hanimkul Tojiyevich was appointed as the head of the department.

From 1967 to 2006, 4 members of the department defended their candidate dissertations:

1. Egamova Ya.

2. Tojiev X.

3. Mamajonov O.

4. Davurbayev O.

In 2004-2011, the department was headed by Ten Emma Vladimirovna.

Members of the department published over 150 scientific articles. The department carries out its activity on the basis of the National program of training of the population of Uzbekistan.

The Department of English Language and Literature is a specialized department and the students who are studying in this department are awarded a Bachelor of English Philology based on the state exams.

Since October, 2014 the department is headed by Urazbayev Hikmatullo Ismatullayevich.

SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITY OF THE DEPARTMENT

The main scientific research topic of the department: "Connection of communicative education based on innovative technologies". The ideas and solutions, which are based on this topic, are being implemented by the department in the educational process. Today, as always, our society needs qualified staff who can address the most pressing and complex issues. Successes of the leading scientists of our time, their ideas are studied by teachers of the department and put into practice. At the moment, the scope of language teaching is expanding. Changes in various aspects of human activity are faced by philologists' different types of foreign language. Encouraging collaboration with other areas and other higher education institutions to find solutions to some of the linguistic problems. The department cooperates closely with the Uzbek State University of World Languages, the Goethe Institute and the British Council.

At the department there is a small library equipped with educational materials, as well as new foreign literature and pedagogical technologies.

Almost all of the available instruction manuals have audio recordings on CDs. The department also has an audio-video room equipped with the necessary equipment.

The department teaches students to work independently, which, in turn, plays an important role in shaping the ability of a modern specialist to communicate in a foreign language. The department is equipped with a computer room with electronic samples of textbooks, manuals and manuals. All computers in the computer room are connected to the Internet. High-level students have access to electronic sources and libraries during their graduation exams. Associate Professor Tojiev Hanimkul will head the "Young Scientists" school and a small school. The members of the small school are the scholarship recipients of Navoi during their studies.

Members of the department are regularly searching for advanced training courses and increasing their scientific potential and pedagogical skills. In particular, the head of the department H. Urazbayev has been trained at the Norwegian Language Teaching Institute in 2013 and has graduated Master's degree in English Language Teaching (MA TESOL) from Sheffield Hallam University in 2015-2016.

In 2008, senior teacher Khatamova S. M., from the teacher Tojiboyeva Sh. and Mamatova M. have improved their qualification in Germany. All members of the department actively participate in scientific conferences and seminars.

In order to train the members of the department with the use of new pedagogical technologies and interactive methods, regular training seminars are organized. Qualified teachers who have attended seminars' professional development courses and representatives of the British Council.

The magazine "Inostranniy yazyki v shkole", regularly published in the Russian Federation and the English-language "Moscow News" newspaper, tells the department to get acquainted with the world news, familiarize with the culture of foreigners.
