The present Department of Ecology and Geography was first established on June 15, 1990 as the independent department of the Department of Botany and Agriculture.
The founder and first head of the department was Ph.D. Kholkuziev feels. The department was headed by different people at different times.
I.Shirinova (1993-1994), I.Urazbaev (1994-1996), N.Hadjaeva (1996-2003), A.Dosmetov (2003-2005), N.Sulaymanov (2005-2011). Department of Ecology and Geography was established in August 2015. The department of "General Ecology and Geography" operated from 2011 to August 2015. During 2011-215, the department was headed by Associate Professor A.Kh. Dustmedov was the chairman. From 2012 to 2017 the department was headed by Ph.D. A. Directed by Yuldashov. Currently, the department is headed by Ph.D. Karshibaeva is the leader.
Today, the Department of Ecology and Geography functions as one of the 6 chairs of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of Gulistan State University. There are 17 professors and teachers in the department. There are 3 professors, 7 candidates of sciences, 6 associate professors, 1 associate professor, 11 teachers. There are 17 people working at the full rate. The average age of the teaching staff is 37.
The department is working on the scientific problems of “Natural resources and protection of Mirzachul oasis” and “Natural geochemistry of Mirzachul oasis”. The department is headed by Ph.D. A. Under the leadership of Yuldashov he is working on a practical project on "Development of sweets in saline soils and their use as raw material for stimulants". The plan of the project is approved. There are 4 circles in the "Small School" organized by the department. The members of the "Little School" are involved in research work of professors, talented students, history teachers at academic lyceums and colleges in the region.
The department provides training in all bachelor courses in the Uzbek and Russian languages in national and European groups on the subject "Ecology and Environmental Protection" and "Ecology and Environmental Protection". A total of 38 general professional, special and elective subjects are taught to undergraduate students in Ecology and Geography.
The teaching staff of the department has developed textbooks, teaching materials, seminars and TMI. Members of the department participated in international and republican scientific conferences with more than 40 scientific reports and published more than 70 scientific articles in scientific journals.
The department cooperates with the Institute of Botany of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, National University of Uzbekistan, Tashkent State Pedagogical University named after Nizami, Jizzakh State Pedagogical University, Samarkand State University and 4 academic lyceums and colleges, foreign language boarding schools in Syrdarya region. is coming. In addition, we have established cooperation with Uzhydmetsentr Committee, Syrdarya Regional Branch of the National Stability Committee, Syrdarya Region State Committee for Nature Protection, the State Committee for Ecology and many others.
A number of practical steps are being taken to increase the effectiveness of teaching geography and environmental sciences at the current academic lyceums and colleges.

In the small hall of Gulistan state University, a solemn ceremony of awarding a doctoral diploma to Kamola Abrorkhanova, a native of the village “Navbakhor” of Mirzaabad district of the Syr Darya region, was held. Kamola Abrorkhanova studied at the pedagogical College No. 2 in Gulistan, and studied for a master's degree and doctorate in the direction of "primary education" at the Nizami pedagogical University. On may 15, 2020, Kamala Abrorkhanova participated in a conversation between the President of our country Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the affected residents in Mirzaabad district.
Doctoral student, 3rd year Kamol Abrochnov noted that he had completed his scientific research on the subject” Improving the pedagogical foundations for educating primary school students in the national spirit based on an innovative approach."

Chairman of the Higher attestation Commission Akhmadbek Yusupov solemnly presented Dr. Kamola Abrorkhonova with the diploma of doctor of science. Speaking at the conclusion ceremony Kamol Abrochnov expressed gratitude to the distinguished President of our country Shavkat Mirzieev, supervisor, teams of school ¹ 17 Mirzaabad district pedagogical College ¹ 2 of the city of Gulistan, showing great concern for the development of science and young people.
The twenty-five-year-old new doctor of science was presented with valuable gifts and flowers of the regional Khokimiyat.
