Today, on April 6, the opening ceremony of the competition was held simultaneously via live broadcast at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, as well as in all higher education institutions across the country.

Gulistan State University also made thorough preparations for these sporting events. The opening ceremony, held at the newly built Central Stadium of the university, was attended by leaders of higher education institutions of the Syrdarya region, student athletes, and heads of sports clubs.

The Rector of Gulistan State University, M. Khodjiyev, reported that 8,735 participants from higher education institutions of the Syrdarya region have registered for competitions in 7 sports, and that all institutions in the region are ready for the contests.

As noted, within the framework of the event, April–May has been declared the “Health and Sports” month in higher education institutions. Competitions in 7 sports have been scheduled as part of the “New Uzbekistan Students Olympiad”: basketball, volleyball, handball, athletics, table tennis, swimming, and football.

Currently, competitions in these sports are taking place at Gulistan State University.
