November 16 is the International Day of Tolerance

According to the decision of the General Assembly of the United Nations, November 16, 1997 is celebrated annually throughout the world as the "International Day of Tolerance". The main goal of this is to encourage the peoples of the world to be tolerant, preserve peace and achieve socio-economic prosperity.

Celebrating this date in Uzbekistan has also become a good tradition. Today, the International Week of Tolerance is taking place in our country.

   Today, November 16, a spiritual and educational promotion event dedicated to the "International Day of Tolerance" was held in the Palace of Culture of Gulistan State University. The event was conducted by B. Samadov, press secretary and adviser on information policy of the rector of the university. At the beginning of the event, opinions were expressed about the history of "International Day of Tolerance", the importance of the international declaration of tolerance adopted by UNESCO in 1995, and the implementation of this international legal document in Uzbekistan.

   Speaking at the event, Gulistan State University professor and youth coach R. Makhmudov expressed his opinion that in our multi-ethnic country, representatives of different ethnic groups and religious confessions live together as a single family and live in peace, peace, harmony and tolerance are recognized as the main criteria in state policy.

   In the artistic part of the event, festive songs were performed by artists of the faculty of art.
