The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation has declared May 2025 as "Sports Month" in higher and vocational education institutions of the republic under the slogan "An Athlete is a Defender of the Nation!"

This initiative is being carried out in accordance with the Presidential Decree No. PF-6099 dated October 30, 2020 — "On the Development of a Healthy Lifestyle and Mass Sports."

On May 5, 2025, the Sports Month was officially launched. The opening ceremony was broadcast live simultaneously across all higher and vocational education institutions in the country, with the participation of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation.

Gulistan State University also made thorough preparations for the Sports Month. A special event dedicated to the launch was held at the university’s sports complex, attended by Rector M. Khodjiyev, vice-rectors, department heads, student-athletes, and leaders of sports clubs.

It should be noted that during this "Sports Month" organized under the slogan "An Athlete is a Defender of the Nation!", competitions will be held in the following sports: badminton, football, volleyball, table tennis, basketball, streetball, handball, athletics, and judo.

The competitions are scheduled to take place from May 5 to May 30 of this year.
