Future prospects of cooperation in innovative directions were also discussed.

The Minister highlighted that China is the main investment partner in implementing the honorable President’s initiative to transform Syrdarya region into an “Innovation Zone.” He noted that cooperation is now expanding beyond economy and production to include science and innovation.

The main agenda of the meeting was the establishment of an international joint laboratory under the Uzbekistan–China cooperation, in partnership with Shandong Baolai Leelai Bio-Tech Group, the Test-Analytical Center of the Shandong Academy of Sciences, and the Research Institute of Agrobiotechnology and Biochemistry at Gulistan State University.

The laboratory will conduct research in food security, soil fertility, biotechnology, and plant breeding, as well as address issues in the agricultural sector.

The opening of this laboratory will create broad opportunities for new research and joint projects for scientists of both countries and is expected to make a major contribution to introducing advanced technologies into the agricultural sector, improving soil quality, and increasing crop productivity.

It was also announced that with the growing presence of Chinese investors in Syrdarya region and the expansion of Gulistan State University’s cooperation with Chinese partners, demand for learning the Chinese language is increasing. Therefore, starting from the next academic year, a bachelor’s program in Chinese language will be launched at the university.
