On June 3, 2026, Gulistan State University hosted the opening ceremony of the Republican Scientific and Practical Conference entitled “Combating Drug Abuse in Public Health Protection: Medical-Preventive Approaches and Innovative Solutions.” The conference is dedicated to strengthening public health, protecting young people from harmful habits, and developing modern mechanisms for combating drug abuse.

During the plenary session, the Rector of Gulistan State University, Doctor of Technical Sciences and Professor M. Khodjiyev, emphasized that under the conditions of globalization, drug abuse has become not only a medical issue but also a serious social, moral, and economic threat. He highlighted the importance of promoting healthy lifestyles among young people, strengthening preventive measures, enhancing cooperation between educational institutions and the public, and introducing effective mechanisms based on innovative approaches.

The plenary session was moderated by D. Eshmurodov, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation. Participants discussed the negative impact of drug abuse on society and human health, modern medical-preventive measures, the promotion of healthy lifestyles among youth, the improvement of preventive activities in educational institutions, and the development of monitoring and control systems based on digital technologies.

The conference provided a comprehensive scientific discussion of the theoretical, practical, and innovative aspects of combating drug abuse.
