Occupational Safety: Security and Health as a Top Priority

In the higher education system, special attention is paid to labor conditions and occupational safety. Creating the necessary environment to protect employees’ health and ensure safe work is one of the government’s key policy priorities.
At Gulistan State University, these issues are under constant supervision, and the primary trade union organization plays an important role in this direction.
As part of the implementation of the Prime Minister’s instruction of March 11, 2025, and the adopted “Targeted Program for Improving Working Conditions, Preventing Industrial Accidents, and the Prevention of Occupational Diseases,” the university is actively working in the following main areas:

1.    Improving Employees’ Qualifications and Legal Awareness
Training sessions, seminars, and roundtable discussions are organized to enhance employees’ knowledge of labor law. These activities help strengthen the expertise of labor protection commissions and representatives and promote ongoing efforts to improve working conditions.

2.    Awareness and Information Campaigns
• Social videos dedicated to developments in occupational safety are produced and widely disseminated through the media.
• Employers and trade union chairpersons prepare and publish articles on labor conditions, safety, industrial accidents, and occupational diseases.
• Visual materials are prepared and distributed to raise awareness of safe working practices within the university.

3.    Monitoring Working Conditions
• The implementation of the “Occupational Safety” section of the collective agreement is monitored and analyzed to ensure sufficient funding for sanitary equipment, workwear, and personal protective gear.
• Public control over the creation of safe workplaces in accordance with legal norms is exercised as prescribed.
• Monitoring ensures that employees undergo regular medical examinations without incurring additional expenses.

As the Chair of the Primary Trade Union Organization, I emphasize that employees’ health, safety, and rights are our highest values. Therefore, the university will continuously work to provide a comfortable and safe working environment, prevent occupational diseases, and eliminate accidents.

A. Yusufaliyev,
Chairman of the Primary Trade Union Organization, Gulistan State University
